PHIL GORMAN

Calm Under Pressure Coach

WHY PHIL?

My journey into this work did not begin with a business plan

or a brand. It began with curiosity.

Early in life, because of my own suffering, I became

fascinated with one simple question:

Why do some people suffer while others seem to heal, grow,

and thrive?

That question led me to study psychology at university,

completing a four-year Bachelor of Arts with a major in

Psychology. I wanted to understand the human mind—how

people think, how emotions shape behavior, and what truly

helps people change.

But I quickly realized something important.

The mind alone doesn’t tell the whole story. In fact, I now

distrust my mind because I know it can be hacked and has

been unconsciously programmed with stories that are not

my truth.

The body, I discovered is much more honest than the mind.

That realization led me into a career as a Registered

Massage Therapist, where I spent the next 23 years working

hands-on with thousands of people. Day after day I

witnessed something remarkable: when people feel safe,

supported, and connected to their bodies, the body

naturally begins to reorganize itself toward health. I learned

that the body is a vehicle for self discovery.

Over the decades I pursued thousands of hours of

continuing education, studying disciplines that deepened my

understanding of the human system. I really felt called to the

liquid/electrical systems like the cranial sacral, fascial,

visceral and lymphatic systems. I’m a complete geek for the

neuro-anatomy of these systems.

But my curiosity didn’t stop there.

Wanting to understand healing from a broader perspective, I

traveled east to China, Taiwan and Southeast Asia, where I

embraced the principles of Eastern energy medicine. There I

encountered ancient traditions that viewed the body not

simply as a mechanical structure, but as a living energy

system where breath, awareness, and vital life force move

through pathways that influence health and vitality.

Those teachings deeply shaped my perspective.

They helped me see that the Western scientific

understanding of the nervous system and the Eastern

understanding of energy and life force are not opposing

ideas—they are simply two languages describing the same

human experience.

Alongside my professional training, I committed to my own

personal practices. For more than two decades I have

maintained a consistent yoga, movement and meditation

practice, while also studying several martial arts traditions

that taught me discipline, breath control, and the power of

embodied awareness.

Nature has always been my greatest teacher.

Time spent in forests, mountains, and by the ocean continually

reminds me that healing is not something we force—it is

something we allow. When the conditions are right, nature

restores balance.

The same is true within the human body.

This understanding became the foundation of my work.

Throughout my years as a therapist, many clients would leave a

session and say something like,

"You’re a healer."

But I never believed that.

Because the truth is simpler—and far more empowering.

The body heals itself.

What I was really doing was grounding myself in my center and

deeply listening to what cranial sacral therapists call “the inner

physician”.

It wasn’t about what I was doing, but how I was being.

I tried my daily best to regulate my own nervous system and “get

out of the way.”

I helped clients reconnect and befriend the sensations within

their bodies.

I created a safe space where trapped energy could finally move

and transform into something new.

I realized that when the nervous system settles, something

powerful happens. The body shifts out of survival and back into

its natural state of restoration.

Over time, I realized there was a simple pattern behind the work

that was happening in every successful session.

That pattern became what I now call the CBN Method.

A simple, practical and reproducible way to help people

regulate their nervous system, reconnect with their body,

and transform stored stuck energy into new possibilities.

Today I share this work not only through individual and

group online sessions, but through workshops, courses, and

retreats designed to help people rediscover the incredible

healing intelligence already within them.

I don’t claim to have all the answers. In fact, I only really

have questions. I see myself first and foremost as a student

of life. Life is a school made for practicing.

I’m a curious investigator with a playful spirit and a deep

love for the human experience.

Teaching is simply the natural extension of that curiosity.

Because when people understand their nervous system...

When they learn to work with their breath...

When they reconnect with their bodies...

Something extraordinary happens.

They stop searching outside themselves for healing.

And begin discovering the power that has been within them

all along. I believe that we are all here to discover, learn,

transform, transmute, practice something. If not, what is the

purpose of all this?
